What is the difference between PEP and PrEP?PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) and PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) are both HIV prevention method. They differ in their timing and purpose. PrEP is a daily medication taken by HIV-negative individuals at risk of HIV to prevent infection before exposure. PEP is a short-term course of medication taken after a possible HIV exposure to prevent infection. It must be started within 72 hours of the exposure to be effective and is typically taken for 28 days.

What is Doxy PEP?Doxy PEP is doxycycline Post-Exposure Prophylaxis. This prevents bacterial STIs like syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea by taking the antibiotic doxycycline after condomless sex. It's a single 200 mg dose taken within 24 hours, but no later than 72 hours, after unprotected sex.
